Low Water Surcharge Canada

As from January 10th, carriers are implementing an LWS Surcharge (Low Water Surcharge) for all cargo shipped to or via Montreal.

Due to the current water level of the St Lawrence River, ships have a limited loading capacity. This means that fewer containers can be loaded on board.
Shipping companies compensate for this by introducing a Low Water Surcharge. The port of Montreal is only accessible via this St Lawrence River.

This LWS Surcharge will be invoiced accordingly and concerns both FCL and LCL shipments.
The amount of the surcharge varies per carrier.
