Trade measures in favour of Ukraine
On 17 July 2017, the Council of the EU adopted a set of temporary autonomous trade measures in favour of Ukraine. These measures should enter into force in September 2017.
The proposal aims at improving access for Ukrainian exporters to the EU market. The measures apply for a three-year period and consist of
- additional annual import quotas at zero tariff for products like grape juice, wheat and maize.
- full removal of import duties on several industrial products, such as footwaer, copper and aluminium.
EU primary partner Ukraine
Trade between the EU and Ukraine continues to grow and the EU has reinforced its position as Ukraine’s primary partner. Trade between the two grew by almost 30% in the first quarter of 2017 compared to the first quarter of 2016.
