In recent years, fines of up to 7500 euros per violation have been applied at the Port of Antwerp-Bruges for missing customs documents prior to shipment. This rule applies for all shipment types (FCL, LCL and conventional/breakbulk).
Furthermore, since 1 January 2020, carriers have implemented a ‘no-load policy’ when there are no customs documents available for an export shipment. In other words, your cargo will simply not be shipped, but rather left on the quay, which will likely result in additional charges for you.
We also want to draw your attention to the fact that customs in the United Kingdom focuses heavily on intercepting undervalued cargoes, so it is of the utmost importance that you ensure you are shipping with the right HS codes.
